Schiff, Jacob Henry

(1847-1920)
   American financier and philanthropist. He was born in Germany, and went to the US in 1885, where he became head of the banking firm of Kuhn, Loeb and Co. He was a founder of the American Jewish Committee, and contributed to a wide range of secular and Jewish organizations.
